The 18th District Court

The district court for Westland. It handles misdemeanours, traffic and civil infractions, small claims, landlord and tenant cases, and the first hearings in a felony before it goes up to circuit court.

  • Covers criminal cases: newly filed, sentenced, on probation, and closed.
  • Cases the law makes non-public do not appear at all.
  • The fines and costs shown may not be the full amount owed if a case is in warrant status. Ring the court on 734-595-8720 to confirm.

Pay a fine

Pay online
  • Online by Visa, MasterCard or Discover. There is a convenience fee, and it posts the next working day.
  • In person at 36675 Ford Road, 8am to 4pm, by cash, personal cheque or money order. Cards are taken and the transaction cost is added to what you pay.
  • After hours in the drop box at the front of the building, by personal cheque, money order or cashier's cheque made out to the 18th District Court. No cash.

If there is a warrant out

The court runs this electronically. It does not want you to walk in, and in most cases you will not have to.

  1. 1Download the Advice of Rights from the court's site, read it and sign at the bottom.
  2. 2Email it to tickets@18thdistrictcourt.com with your full name, address and phone number.
  3. 3An attorney contacts you on that number within three to five working days.
