These are the rules this paper holds itself to. If we break one, tell us and we will say so on the page where it happened.
Corrections
When we get something wrong we add a dated correction to the bottom of the story. We do not quietly edit a story and pretend it always said that.
Sources
We never publish the name of somebody who sent us a tip without asking them first. Where we quote a person, we spoke to that person.
Sponsors
Local businesses buy space on this site and every one of those spaces is labelled. Sponsorship buys space and nothing else. No sponsor sees a story before it runs, and no sponsor has ever had one taken down.
Reader stories
Anyone can send us a story. An editor reads all of them and we run the ones that stand up. When we do, the writer's own name goes on it and it is marked clearly as a reader story.
