Trunk-or-treats, haunted houses, trick-or-treating and Halloween fun in and around Westland
Halloween is coming, Westland.
And if you've ever found out about a great trunk-or-treat the day after it happened, we're trying to fix that.
We've started gathering Halloween events from Westland, Canton, Livonia, Garden City, Plymouth, Dearborn and a little farther out. There are things for little kids, free trick-or-treat events, full-blown haunted attractions and a few options for people who apparently enjoy walking into dark woods while strangers try to scare them.
Save this guide. We will continue adding verified events as they are announced.
OCTOBER 1-4, 8-11, 15-18 & 22-25
Hallowe'en in Greenfield Village
6 to 9:30 p.m. | Greenfield Village, Dearborn
More than 1,000 jack-o'-lanterns, costumed characters, live performances, historic Halloween traditions and plenty of atmosphere take over Greenfield Village on select October nights.
This is much more of a full Halloween experience than a haunted house, making it a good option for families who want spooky without spending the entire night being chased.
One warning: tickets are already limited for several nights, so this is one to plan ahead for. The Henry Ford

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10
Wayne County Halloween Festival
1 to 3 p.m. | Nankin Mills Park, Westland | FREE
We'll start right here at home.
Wayne County Parks is bringing its Halloween Festival back to Nankin Mills with candy, games, entertainment and hayrides.
It's outdoors, costumes are optional and admission is free.

Canton Trick or Treat Trail
1 to 4 p.m. | Heritage Park, Canton | $10 residents / $13 nonresidents
Get the costumes on and head to Heritage Park, where Canton will have more than 30 trick-or-treat stations set up along the trail.
Adults don't need tickets unless they're collecting treats themselves. Canton Township

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 11
Pumpkins and Pups
11 a.m. to 1 p.m. | Canton Dog Park
The dogs get Halloween too.
Canton is inviting dogs and their humans out for entertainment, pet vendors, giveaways and a costume contest. Nonmembers of the dog park need to bring proof of current rabies and DHLPP vaccinations signed by a veterinarian. Canton Township
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 16
Sensory-Friendly Trick-or-Treat Trail
5:30 to 6:30 p.m. | Ford Field Park, Dearborn | FREE
Before Dearborn turns its wooded trail over to the scary stuff, families can visit for a sensory-friendly trick-or-treating experience.

Dearborn Haunted Trail: Creatures of the Woods
7 to 11 p.m. | Ford Field Park, Dearborn | $10 advance / $15 day-of
Once darkness falls, the mood changes considerably.
Dearborn's wooded trail becomes home to legendary creatures and other things you probably don't want following you back to the parking lot.
There's also an 18+ Witching Hour from 10 to 11 p.m. each night with intensified scares. ID is required for that portion. City of Dearborn

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 18
Pumpkin Palooza
11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. | Downtown Plymouth | FREE
Downtown Plymouth goes all-in on Halloween for this one.
Families can dress up and trick-or-treat through downtown businesses, catch entertainment and enter costume contests. There's no registration and no admission charge.
Kellogg Park's Scarecrows in the Park display will also be up, with more than 100 scarecrows. The Plymouth Community Chamber says Pumpkin Palooza typically draws thousands of people, so expect downtown to be busy. Plymouth Community Chamber of Commerce
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 22
Garden City Community Coalition Trunk or Treat
5:30 p.m. | Radcliff Community Center, 1751 Radcliff St. | $2 per child
This is one of the closest traditional trunk-or-treats we've found.
Kids can move from vehicle to vehicle collecting candy from local businesses and community groups. Tickets are capped at 1,000 children, and organizers say the line will close at 7 p.m. Garden City Schools

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 24
Candy-Go-Round
11 a.m. to 1 p.m. | Kirksey Recreation Center, Livonia | FREE
Livonia's big outdoor trick-or-treat event takes over the south parking lot of the Kirksey Recreation Center.
It's geared toward kids ages 2 to 12.
It's free, but preregistration is required. Livonia

Scary Hill Village: Kids' Halloween Stroll
3 to 7 p.m. | Cherry Hill Village, Canton | $8
Cherry Hill Village becomes Scary Hill Village for the afternoon.
Kids can trick-or-treat along Cherry Hill Road and inside the Arts Warehouse, where there will also be activities and photo opportunities.
Costumes are encouraged, and there's even a decorated stroller and wagon competition.
No tickets will be sold at the door, so this one requires a little planning. Canton Township

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 31
Halloween Turkey Trot
9:30 a.m. | Bicentennial Park, Livonia | $20
If your plan is to eat half the kids' Halloween candy later that evening, here's your chance to get ahead of it.
Livonia's costume-friendly 5K benefits Livonia Goodfellows. Registration is $20, and participants are encouraged to wear costumes. Livonia
HAUNTED HOUSES NEAR WESTLAND
Now for the people who don't want candy unless somebody scares them first.
And Westland doesn't have to travel very far. We've got two major haunted attractions right here in the city.
Hush Haunted Attraction
37550 Cherry Hill Road, Westland
Hush is back for the 2026 Halloween season with multiple haunted experiences, elaborate sets and actors, a Halloween festival area and additional entertainment.
There's also an optional experience for adults 21 and older involving Hush's hidden themed bars.
For families with younger kids, watch for Hush's special lights-on experience, where children can see the haunted-house sets without the regular nighttime scares.

Eloise Asylum

Few haunted attractions can compete with Eloise when it comes to the setting.
The modern haunt operates inside part of the historic Eloise complex right here in Westland, combining professional sets, actors and effects with a location that already has more than enough history of its own.
Eloise is also holding Rockin' Haunt Night on Friday, October 30, with the haunt combined with live music, food and drinks. Doors open at 6 p.m., and that event is for guests 18 and older. Eloise Asylum - Haunted Attraction

The Haunted Funeral Home

This smaller seasonal haunt is just down the road from Westland.
We're watching for its complete 2026 schedule before adding individual dates to the calendar.
Deranged Haunt
35560 Goddard Road, Romulus
Deranged takes the haunted-house idea outside.
Instead of spending the entire experience inside a building, visitors head through a wooded outdoor attraction with additional sets and themed areas.
It's close enough to Westland to make the list and different enough from the big indoor haunts to be worth knowing about.
Wiard's Night Terrors
5565 Merritt Road, Ypsilanti
Night Terrors at Wiard's operates more like a haunted attraction complex than a single haunted house.
If you're looking to make an entire evening out of getting scared, this is another option within reasonable driving distance of Westland.
WILLING TO DRIVE A LITTLE FARTHER?
Metro Detroit has several destination haunted attractions worth knowing about, including Erebus in Pontiac, Rotten Manor in Holly, Terrorfied Forest in Pinckney and Azra Chamber of Horrors in Madison Heights.
We'll be adding confirmed 2026 schedules and ticket information for the farther-away attractions as we verify them.
THIS GUIDE IS NOT FINISHED
And that's intentional.
We're still in September, and many of the smaller churches, schools, businesses, nonprofits, fire departments, police departments and neighborhood groups haven't announced their trunk-or-treats yet.
Those smaller events are also some of the easiest to miss.
So if your organization is holding a public Halloween event in Westland, Livonia, Garden City, Canton, Wayne, Inkster, Plymouth, Dearborn or somewhere reasonably close, send it to Voice of Westland.
We need the event name, date, time, location, admission price if there is one, and a public registration or event link if available.
There is no charge to be included.
